THE P500 million worth of infrastructure projects for 25 insurgency-cleared barangays of seven local government units in Negros Occidental have already been downloaded and ready for disposal, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said on Wednesday, May 12, 2021.

THE Cebu City Government is willing to outsource the logistics of the Pfizer vaccines in case the Department of Health (DOH) Central Visayas will deliver doses of it to the city.

Cebu City Health Department officer-in-charge Jeffrey Ibones said the logistics for the Pfizer vaccines would not be a major concern since the DOH-Central Visayas office is within the city.

"We don't have a problem with that (storage) since the DOH office, the storage, is very near. We don't have to worry about that," said Ibones in Cebuano.

LESS than 5,000 new coronavirus infections were reported for the second consecutive day on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, as testing output also remained low.

In its case bulletin, the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed 4,842 new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), bringing the cumulative case count to 1,118,359.

The daily positivity rate remained below 13 percent. Of the 33,529 samples tested on May 10, 12.5 percent were found positive for Sars-CoV-2.

The DOH also reported 94 additional mortalities, raising the death toll to 18,714. The case fatality rate remained at 1.67 percent.

RESIDENTS of Barangay San Isidro in Dauis, Bohol found a carcass of a leatherback sea turtle on Tuesday, May 11, 2021.

The Bohol Environmental Management Office (Bemo), which sent a team of veterinarians to inspect and perform necropsy of the carcass, said the juvenile female leatherback sea turtle was 140 centimeters (cm) long and 100 cm wide.

It was already in the state of advanced decomposition, Bemo added.

Bemo also said that during the necropsy, the team of veterinarians found nylons in the sea turtle’s large intestines.
