THE Department of Health (DOH) 7 received a total of 52,800 additional doses of CoronaVac, the Covid-19 vaccine produced by Sinovac Biotech Ltd., on Tuesday, May 18, 2021.

AN OMAN national and a resident of Hinigaran were found murdered in two separate incidents Tuesday morning, May 18, 2021.

The Oman national, identified as Ahmed Haj, 34, of Regent Pearl Homes Subdivision, Barangay Alijis, Bacolod City, was found dead in a vacant lot on Palanca Street, Barangay 18.

Police Lieutenant Andy Ofalia, deputy chief of Police Station 2, said the lifeless body of the victim was found by a concerned citizen around 7:40 a.m.

His body was identified by the brother of his live-in partner.

IN A bid to further intensify its African Swine Fever (ASF) monitoring and surveillance effort, the Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) of Negros Occidental had issued identification cards (IDs) to 15,000 registered swine raisers in the province.

THE Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative (Noceco) has announced a drop of P0.2922 per kilowatt (kWh) in its residential power rate for May 2021.

From P10.2921 per kWh in April, its prevailing rate went down to P9.9999 per kWh.

The power distribution utility caters to electric consumers in the southern part of Negros Occidental, from Pulupandan to Hinoba-an.

DOH: Over 4,000 new cases logged; no data from 8 labs

THE Department of Health (DOH) is back to logging less than 5,000 new cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) Tuesday, May 18, as some laboratories have failed to submit test results.

The health department said eight laboratories have failed to submit data on May 16, thus only 4,487 additional cases were reported Tuesday.

The new cases brought the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 1,154,388, of which 52,291 or 4.5 percent are active.
