SEVERAL cops from the EB Magalona Municipal Police Station are in hot water after they were reportedly caught sleeping while on duty during a surprise inspection carried out by the National Police Commission (Napolcom) Western Visayas Director lawyer Joseph Celis.
According to Celis, he arrived around 11:03 p.m. Friday, May 14, 2021, at the police station and discovered there was no desk officer or sentinel available.

THE Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday, May 16, 2021, reported less than 6,000 new coronavirus infections as testing output was also low.
In its case bulletin, DOH confirmed 5,790 new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), which brought the cumulative case count to 1,143,963.
New cases have been declining since mid-April, when the seven-day moving average reached a peak of more than 10,000.
Based on the DOH case bulletins, new cases averaged 6,000 a day in the last seven days from May 10 to 16, more than 25 percent lower than the 8,200 seven-day average for the week ...

FIRE broke out at the SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City before dawn Sunday, May 16, 2021, but was immediately put out.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Mandaluyong City said the fire occurred “between the sixth and seventh floors” of Building C at around 3:36 a.m. Sunday. Fire out was declared out at 3:55 a.m., or around 20 minutes later.
